Our Story
In my first year of university, my friends and I would zip around the city on our electric skateboards. It was an incredible way to get around—fast, fun, and efficient. But there was one major problem: communicating with other road users. We had no easy way to signal when we were turning or slowing down, and with no proper safety lights available on the market, riding at night could be risky.
Like cyclists, we had to stick our arms out to indicate turns—which felt outdated and awkward, especially in the age of modern tech. As an engineering student, I saw an opportunity to create something better: a smarter, safer way to signal on personal electric vehicles.
I started experimenting with accelerometers and NeoPixel LED strips to develop a lighting system with front and rear indicators that could signal turns and braking—just like cars do. Over time, this concept evolved into a versatile solution for electric bikes, skateboards, and scooters, designed to help reduce accident rates and make urban travel safer.
